Sourdough Pancakes

These sourdough pancakes are great with a buttery spread and fruity syrup!

Ingredients

  • 2 c. sourdough starter (see below)
  • 2 c. lukewarm water
  • 2 1/2 c. White Flour (All Purpose Unbleached Flour)
  • 1 tbsp. Cane Sugar
  • 1/4 c. evaporated milk
  • 1/2 tsp. Iodized Salt
  • 1 tsp. Baking Soda

Directions

  1. Combine first three ingredients in a large pot, cover, and let stand overnight.
  2. Add remaining ingredients, let stand 5 minutes, then ladle onto hot griddle and prepare as you would with any other pancake.
  3. To prepare sourdough starter: INGREDIENTS: 1 quart lukewarm water 1 pkg dry active yeast 2 tsp THRIVE White Sugar 4 c THRIVE White Flour
  4. Put lukewarm water in a 1/2 gallon jar. Add yeast and sugar to soften, then stir in flour. Cover with a clean cloth.
  5. Let rise until mixture is light and slightly aged (about 2 days). Mixture will thin as it stands; add flour as needed.
  6. As you use starter, replace the removed portion with equal amounts of flour and water.
