Ingredients

  • 1 c. bacon, diced
  • 6 chicken thighs
  • 6 chicken drumsticks
  • 1 tbsp. garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, diced large
  • 1 c. THRIVE Mushroom Pieces - Freeze Dried
  • 4 c. water
  • 1 tbsp. Basil
  • 1/2 tbsp. THRIVE Chefs Choice
  • 1/2 tsp. Peppercorn
  • 1 c. THRIVE Velouté (Rich Chicken Gravy) (dry)
  • 1 c. heavy cream

Directions

  1. Brown bacon in a 12 or 14 inch Dutch oven, then remove bacon and drain half the grease.
  2. Sprinkle additional Chef's Choice blend over chicken and cook in Dutch oven, removing when browned.
  3. Add garlic and onions to oven and caramelize lightly. Add mushrooms, sweat for a minute, then deglaze oven with water.
  4. Add seasonings, bring to a simmer, and add sauce mix and cream.
  5. Return chicken and bacon to oven and stir to coat with sauce. Cook for 20–25 minutes with 18 coals around rim of lid and 8 coals underneath oven.
  6. Stir and baste chicken occasionally while cooking.
