Cream of Tomato Soup

I have many feel-good memories of coming home for lunch to a bowl of hot tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. Thanks to THRIVE TOMATO POWDER, comfort food #1 is back on my table with No additives!

Ingredients
- 1/4 c. Butter
- 1/4 c. White Flour (All Purpose Unbleached Flour)
- 3/4 c. THRIVE Instant Milk powder
- 4 c. Water
- 1/4 tsp. Black Pepper
- 1/2 tsp. Salt
- 1/4 c. Tomato Powder
Directions
- Prepare milk using milk powder and water. Set aside
- n medium sauce pan, prepare a roux with butter and flour by melting butter and adding flour - stirring to incorporate, over medium to low heat.
- Slowly add prepared milk, whisking while adding to prevent clumping.
- Stir over low heat while thickening.
- Add salt and pepper.
- Add Tomato Powder and whisk to blend.
- I find it easier to remove 1/2 cup white sauce into a bowl.
- Stir in tomato powder till smooth, then pour back into soup.
- Start off with 1/4 cup Tomato powder. If you want a richer tomato flavor, simply add another Tablespoon at a time
- Heat through over medium to low stirring while it thickens. Serve hot.
- That's it! Serve with crackers or grilled cheese sandwiches. It really IS that easy.
